Attenborough blames the third world, for a change

The BBC's elderly national treasure has stopped beating the global warming drum. Could this be because he now acknowledges the Met Office admission that the world hasn't warmed for 17 years? Or because he has finally realised that International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports are based on politics - and vested interests - rather than science? (Although the IPCC did once admit that "the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible".) He still says we're doomed, though, much to the pleasure of self-flagellating environmentalists.

"Sir David Attenborough has warned that the world's rising population must be brought under control - if humans are to maintain a good quality of life. He claimed that countries with lower birth rates and better medical facilities should do more to educate women in lesser developed countries about birth control. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast, Sir David said: 'There are areas of the world that are still unspoilt... but that may not be the case if in fact our numbers go on increasing at the present rate'."

Gas them, David. Gas the whole world, in fact - with carbon dioxide. We need to produce much, much more of this essential plant food if we are going to support an ever-increasing world population. Why should women in "unspoilt" parts of the world suddenly start listening to western birth control experts, after all? Someone at New Broadcasting House ought to tell this eugenicist to stop being so "racist" (the BBC's favourite word), and to start blaming the west for not building coal-fired power stations fast enough. Germany's got the message already...
